The Ceremony

The couple’s outdoor ceremony was intimate, with the officiant, Ceremonies by Bethel, weaving unique and meaningful features while still honoring Robyn’s Chinese heritage, too. One of the most memorable moments was their tea blending ceremony, symbolizing the merging of their lives. “Sven’s ingredients were cinnamon and orange, representing his spicy and playful nature, while mine were honey and Golden Camellia, for sweetness and uniqueness,” Robyn explained. The authentic nature of their ceremony set the tone for the reception that followed.

The “flower man” nearly stole the show with his fanny pack full of petals and skillful handwork! Adding light and whimsical touches to a wedding ceremony is an expressive way of adding joy.

Personalized Lapel Pins

In line with their theme of connection and fate, Robyn designed the custom enamel pins for their guests for this celestial-themed wedding. The pins, featuring two cats that fit together to form a full circle, were embellished with cosmic details and gold foil text. “The idea was that you could give one of the pins to your soulmate,” Robyn explains. “It was a nice way to keep the theme of our connection going forward.”

Celestial Interactive Experiences

“While we were floating in the middle of two universes, floral design and tablescapes were incredibly important design concepts that added to the spaces’ overall feel and elegance,” notes their planner, Holly Gray of Anything But Gray Events. “And thematic and interactive details like personalized lapel pins, universe-themed cocktails, a tarot card reader, Mischel’s Truth, and a vintage phone capturing messages to the couple gave guests celestial Easter eggs to enjoy throughout the evening.”

Floral Arrangements

Lush blooms, designed by Leta Verbena, in shades of blue, white, and gold adorned the space, adding a touch of elegance and tying together the cosmic color palette. Blue flowers are a rare gem in the world of florals, which made them the perfect choice for this celestial-themed wedding. Their unique hue instantly evokes a sense of mystery, depth, and the unknown—qualities often associated with the cosmos. By weaving in bold, blue blooms throughout the design, we created a visual language that felt otherworldly, as if this celebration was the dazzling collision of two universes coming together. The result was a floral story that felt both romantic and transcendent, grounding the galactic theme with vibrant, natural beauty.

Lighting Design & Drapery

Gold sequined fabric lined the main wall, with twinkling lights behind it to mimic the stars. The floor was wrapped with a celestial-themed cloudy-star scene, and the ceiling was draped with soft golden fabric, creating an ethereal glow throughout the venue.

Table Settings & Imagery

No two guest tables were exactly alike, reflecting our commitment to personalization and intentional design. Each table featured a unique combination of floral arrangements, drapery by Quest Events, and lighting elements from  SEP Lighting—some adorned with towering candelabras, others with clusters of delicate votives—creating layers of visual interest throughout the space.

This mix of textures and tones gave the reception an organic yet elevated feel. To spark meaningful connections, custom conversation prompts were thoughtfully placed around the tables, encouraging guests to go beyond small talk and engage in heartfelt, memorable dialogue. It was all about creating a space that felt both beautiful and deeply interactive.

Celestial sky imagery played a starring role in the overall design, infusing the celebration with a dreamy, otherworldly atmosphere. From the moment guests entered, they were enveloped in galactic beauty, starting with the custom vinyl wrapped flooring by SHOUT! , mimicked a swirling star-scape beneath their feet. The bar featured hand-painted cosmic details, acting as both a functional space and a work of art, while the wedding cake stood as a stunning centerpiece, adorned with celestial textures, gold accents, and starry embellishments. Each of these elements worked together to immerse guests in a universe crafted just for the couple, one filled with wonder, light, and a touch of magic.

Backdrop & Set Pieces

As an event designer, I’m deeply inspired by theatrical elements and set design, transforming spaces into immersive experiences that tell a story. I love incorporating bold focal pieces, custom-made for this wedding by Papermoon Shoppe, that are not only visually striking but also deeply personal to each couple. For this wedding, guests were welcomed into the reception through custom golden gates that felt like an entrance into another realm. At the heart of the space, a dimensional universe “portal” anchored the room and acted as a dramatic frame for the sweetheart table, drawing all eyes to the couple. Behind it, a sweeping 50-foot sequin backdrop shimmered like a galaxy of stars, creating a stunning cosmic stage that felt equal parts romantic and surreal.

Celestial-themed Wedding Cake

The universe imagery seen on the floor wrap for this celestial-themed wedding was also incorporated into the cake design by Nicole Bakes Cakes, the wrap of the bar, the paper goods, created by Roseville Designs, and the projected lighting imagery.
