Tuesdays Together Los Angeles gets “gourd”geous at Tapia Brothers.
What do you get when you mix a family-owned pumpkin patch, a bunch of creative entrepreneurs and the topic of time management?
If you are Tuesdays Together Los Angeles San Fernando Valley Chapter, you get a whole lot of community, fun, and education all rolled into a “gourd-geous” afternoon.
My name is Holly Gray. I am the owner of Anything But Gray Events and for the last (almost) 4 years, I have been the Leader of Tuesdays Together Los Angeles San Fernando Valley.
This month we headed to Tapia Brother’s Farm in Encino for some outdoor, seasonal fun. Although it’s still in the high 80s in California, we figured we better get some Fall feelings in there before December rolls around.
Calligraphy on pumpkins and “Pumpkin Portraits” were offered to each member before we dove into discussing Time Management. This balanced a rather heavy subject matter with a light-hearted and conversation-starting activity that everyone could enjoy!
We hear it time and time again: “I wish I had more time.” In fact, if you’re like me, you may even feel like you don’t have time to read this blog post!
October’s topic was Time Management. Something we all have trouble with in some way, big or small! With over 40 members in attendance, it’s obvious that mastering time management is on all of our minds. With the end of the year fatigue setting in, we are all looking for helpful ways to get back those precious minutes each day.
Our goal with October’s Time Management month was to create an open dialogue. Diving into where we focus our time and how we can incorporate best practices to win back the time we feel like we are loosing in our businesses and personal lives as entrepreneurs.
This is easier said than done I know, but understanding that this is a process and not an immediate change helps take the stress off being perfect with your time skills. We own our own time and can lend it out as we please.
We discussed time blocking, batching work, technology for your business, and the power of setting boundaries with clients. These practices help us to work smarter not harder to achieve our goals and be successful in our fields.
These strong, smart, and talented women volunteer their time to make our monthly Tuesdays Together Los Angeles San Fernando Valley meeting possible. Julie Shuford, Julie Harris, Trista Hidalgo, and Natalia Ramirez are our amazing chairs. It takes a small village to make a monthly meeting happen and I am so thankful for my phenomenal village.
What I love about Tuesdays Together is the sense of community. In fact, “Community over Competition” is our motto. Tuesdays Together Los Angeles is a safe (and free) place for creatives. We encourage our members to speak freely about the ups and downs, positives and negatives, and everything in-between. Being an entrepreneur can be lonely, but having a community to rely on makes all the difference.

Next month, our November meeting will focus on the topic of Philanthropy. We’ll be collecting toiletry items for a local homeless shelter as well as hearing from a speaker on how to incorporate Philanthropic practices into your business. See you on November 12th!
