2018 Year In Review for Anything But Gray Events

Anything But Gray Events welcomed incredible wedding couples, events, speaking engagements, philanthropic endeavors and even a TV show in 2018. While known for colorful and unique weddings, Anything But Gray Events was happy to expand into the corporate world this year as well! Anything But Gray Events is happy to bring the color wherever we go! Here is our 2018 Year In Review through the seasons.

Spring Forward:

Spring started the 2018 season with an intimate wedding at Cooks Chapel in Anaheim for Lena and Shawn. While the skies were a bit overcast that day, their wedding was full of love, sunshine the color, teal!

Then to the Fig House for the Association of Bridal Consultants, “Anti-Valentines” Day corporate networking event for wedding and event professionals. Forget hearts and chocolate! This bash, we called, “Bittersweet” was full of tongue in cheek anti-love sentiment and comical bitterness. Stupid Cupid!

Raindrops kept falling on our head while downtown at City Club Los Angeles. Our “Rain is Just Confetti from the Sky” tablescape design for the club’s Toast and Tour event showcased tablescape designs to engaged couples. The massive balloon installation made by Balloonzilla was nearly 10 feet wide and made a bold statement.

The Bruncheon event brought engaged couples and wedding professionals together for a sit-down brunch and casual question and answer panel discussion. Putting forth honest and real-talk information to couples is a constant goal for Anything But Gray Events. Being a part of such a talented panel of wedding pros was certainly an honor and ended up leading to our next project….. TV!

There was a scout from TLC’s show, I Want That Wedding, at The Bruncheon. I was cast to help a couple, Marquie and Ryan, plan their dream wedding while attending three other weddings around Los Angeles for inspiration! It was a totally different experience planning a wedding with a camera crew watching!

Summer Vibes:

So many tablescape designs! Collaborations with BBJ Linens and Bright Rentals brought forth bright and cheery table designs that showcased bold and bright patterns and colors for the Summer season.

Showcasing diversity and inclusivity is at the core of Anything But Gray Events. Producing a styled shoot with handicapped comedian, Danielle Perez, was a true highlight of the year. Giving Danielle a platform to showcase her story was a step in the right direction in seeing more diversity and change in the wedding industry.

The summer months took us outside into the California sunshine. Sunscreen included!

First, headed to York Manor in Highland Park for Kelly and Camillo’s colorful fiesta wedding full of confetti, music, and tacos!

Then to The Bel Air Bay Club for Chia and Tim’s glamourous beachside wedding. While this wedding a had more muted color palette, there was nothing boring about this duo! This photo of the influencer couple yielded an astounding 1,314 likes on our Instagram page making it out #1 photo of the year.

Fall Back:

Speaking on the subject of ‘Living Your Brand’ with Tuesdays Together Los Angeles members was a chance to tell the story of Anything But Gray Events. Sharing how we have developed our colorful style and confidence in standing out from the crowd with a #youdoyouboo attitude and style was refreshing.

Travel:

Did you know Anything But Gray Events travels? Well, we do! We loved hitting the road to Joshua Tree for Keri and John’s desert wedding. These two lovebirds spent most of their courtship living between two countries. Their desert soaked celebration was dripping with romance and a killer sunset.

Shannon and Jon’s sentimental vows at Storrier Stearns Japanese Garden in Pasadena was a destination wedding for these Colorado residents.

Helping dear friends, Caty and Nina plan their Pittsburg wedding at Calvary Episcopal Church from our LA office was not only a wonderful challenge but also an incredibly rewarding celebration of love, faith, and LGBTQ pride.

Kim and Joel’s wedding at Grace E. Simons Lodge in Elysian Park marked a first for Anything But Gray Events; an all-vegan menu from Jennie Cooks Catering for this earth-conscious couple.

When California Wedding Day Magazine asks you to plan and design an event at JLM Couture in Beverly Hills for Hayley Paige’s most recent bridal line, you hang up the phone and do a crazy dance in your office. Getting to live out my astrological dreams with this whimsical and celestial design was a fantasy.

With warm colors, textures and a Spanish-inspired tile pattern this Thanksgiving table made us thankful to take a seat and enjoy a meal together!

Tuesdays Together Los Angeles brought philanthropy to our businesses when members gathered together to contribute to and assemble hygiene kits for the homeless to be donated to the Los Angeles Mission.

Anything But Gray Events is proud to be donating a portion of each sale to Best Friends Animal Society in 2019.

Winter Time:

It may have been cold outside but the disco tunes were warming up the dance floor at this groovy corporate event. Our ‘Disco Ball’ with The Association of Bridal Consultations at The Skirball Center brought bold colors, rhythm and vintage vibes to the forefront of the events industry.

Our last wedding of the year was a really special one! Abbey and Martha were the winners of our Gay Pride Month contest for complimentary wedding management services for a deserving LGBTQ couple. This politically driven and socially conscious couple are at the forefront of women’s right and striving for inclusivity within our community. Their colorful Jewish-Mexican celebration at Ruby Street in Highland Park was a true highlight of the year.

With a name like Holly, you know I love Christmas time! This classically elegant “Holly Jolly” table design with MTB Rentals brought on the holiday spirit.

December brought us to La Pinata Party Rentals to create a 1960’s inspired pastel Kitschy Kristmas look. It was definitely my favorite tablescape design of the year.

Ringing in the new year with shine, sparkle, and snazziness with this New Years Eve table design collaboration with MTB Rentals.
