Getting Ready

tim-delaghetto-wedding-invitation

Chia Habte and Tim Delaghetto’s wedding design was a mix of classic aesthetics and bold choices. A white, cream and blush color palette mixed with pops of metallics alongside creative aspects that added a major wow factor to their fusion-focused nuptials.

makeup artist and bride

Makeup is a serious business as you can see from Face It’s Sugar (Georgia’s) face. As a beauty blogger, it was crucial to Chia to have a makeup artist that understood skin type and personal makeup stylings. Chia’s loose and flowing updo was created by Alisha Jared Artistry.

Fun Facts: Chia is Canadian (Saskatchewan to be exact) and a cultural mix of Eritrean (Dad) and Salvadorian (Mom). Tim is Thai-American. Chia and Tim met in 2011 and have been dating long distance ever since.

bridesmaid selfie

Bridesmaid selfies all around! Chia’s bridesmaids were comprised of her sister and cousins who traveled from Canada to be apart of their big day.

Why should the bride be the only one with a fancy-ass robe?!

wedding vows

Chia originally had her vowes written on her phone but Tim then requested they both handwrite their vows so they can keep them forever. How sweet is he?!

When the groom is comedian-rapper on the MTV show Wild ‘N Out, you know the groomsmen are going to be a goofy bunch! Here they all are doing some “Groomin'”. Tim and his groomsmen wore tan, custom-made suits from Milo Andres.

Ceremony

My amazing team (Sebastian, Linda, Hayley and Lizzy (of Lizzy Liz Events) pow-wowing about the timeline.

The simple elegance of this floral encrusted display adorned with hundreds of Vendela roses and hydrangea framed the couple and ocean background, perfectly.
wedding fans at ceremony
August is HOT in California even with an ocean breeze! These personalized hand fans by Solutions and More featuring the bride and groom’s faces on either side kept guests cool and comfy during the outdoor ceremony.

Chia and Tim’s face fans signified which side of the ceremony the guests should sit on.
bride and groom holding hands
Chia and Tim did not want to see each other before the ceremony BUT they did want to have one, blind, last hand-holding moment before saying I Do. This quiet moment before the festivities began was my favorite moment of the whole wedding. The sweetness is at an all-time high!
bride and parents at bel air bay club
Nat Wongsaroj Photography captured this sweet moment between Chia and her parents right before she walked down the aisle. These are the photos that they will cherish for the rest of their lives!
Tim Delaghetto wedding
Tim and his dad couldn’t stop making each other laugh right before heading down the aisle. It’s no wonder Tim is as funny as he is. His parents are jokesters as well. Tim hugged so many people before the wedding that I needed to replace his boutonniere!  I guess that is what happens when you are in a room full of amazing people you love an who love you back. You hug everyone, hard!

As a wedding planner, there is no greater feeling than the moment a bride or groom walks down the aisle. That is the first time I actually take a deep breath the whole day. After more than a year of planning, this wedding came together so beautifully. It was picture perfect!

After 7 years of long-distance dating and thousands of hours (and mileage) traveling back and forth from Canada to the US to see each other, these two are finally married!

Cocktail Hour

nontraditional champagne display
So if you know ANYTHING about Tim Delaghetto it’s that he is a funny dude! I nearly rolled laughing when he told me that he and Chia had literally gone to Sears and taken, “Step Brothers” inspired portraits to be framed and used during the cocktail hour. This hilarious, oversized portrait of the couple and elegant champagne display was the first thing that guests saw as they were walking into the grand foyer of The Bel Air Bay Club for cocktail hour.
Although this was a luxury wedding, I love that this couple does not take themselves too seriously. There were moments of humor, lightness, and surprises throughout the evening.

Reception

If you know my work, I am sure you are probably saying to yourself, “Where’s the color, Holly?”. I know, I know, white and blush are not my norm by any means. Although this wedding was very toned down for me color spectrum wise, it was full of big personalities, wow moments and personalization.
The word, “Colorful” doesn’t always have to do with hue. I love working with clients who stand out from a crowd, who march to the beat of their own drummer and want to create weddings that represent who they are no matter what. While this might not have been one of the technicolor weddings that I have becomes known for, Chia Habte and Tim Delaghetto are certainly two of my most creative and “colorful” clients to date. Their bright spirits, welcoming families and warm personalities shined in every moment of their Bel Air Bay Club wedding day.

The room was dripping with outrageously beautiful florals from ceiling to floor. The hints of pink in the Vendela roses brought out the gold and champagne tones of the tableware, chairs, and linens.

Here’s my confession! I have been waiting for so long to plan a wedding at The Bel Air Bay Club to be able to cover this fountain in florals!! Mission accomplished.
wedding marquee letters
Chia and Tim wanted a statement piece as guests entered the dining room. Lights for Nights hand-crafted these individually lit, 5ft tall letters the literally put the couple’s names in lights! Very Hollywood glam!

With over 200 guests on the list, with the high ceilings and large windows all around, the dining room still felt light, bright and roomy even with a large dance floor.

There is no better way to end Chia Habte and Tim Delaghetto’s wedding than treating their guests to a late-night burger visit from the In and Out truck! Double-doubles all around!

Chia Habte and Tim Delaghetto were a joy to work with. Throughout the planning process, they trusted me to help create the wedding of their dreams from start to finish. It was a joyous experience getting to see two people marry that fit so perfectly together! They were made for each other.

Here is the review Chia and Tim left on The Knot:

“We had the pleasure of working with Holly Gray for our entire wedding planning process. We initially spoke with Holly on the phone and she was very bubbly and friendly! She didn’t pressure us into making a decision but rather encouraged us to talk to other planners to get a feel for what we wanted. Narrowing down a wedding planner can be difficult, so ultimately we chose Holly not just because her work looked and sounded impressive, but because of her personality.

She really clicked with us as a couple and we loved that about her. Because realistically whoever we chose would heavily be involved in our lives for the next year, so we wanted to make sure we had a great connection. After we locked down Holly, we jumped right into it! She had lots of recommendations for every aspect of a wedding; flowers, videographers, photographers, cake, music, makeup, hair, etc.

Holly accompanied us to our initial meetings with the vendors and spoke true to our vision. She always had our best interest in mind and made us feel comfortable every step of the way. Which is extremely important because this occasion should be done exactly the way you pictured it. There are hundreds of major and minor decisions to make, that it can be hard to feel confident in your choices. It was always nice to hear that we were on the right track and everything would be okay. On our actual wedding day, it was surreal to see everything come together. It was in this moment that we finally realized that the endless amount of e-mails and several months of planning was all worth it.

Holly was running around like crazy and making sure everything was in place and exactly how it should be. But in the same breath, she would suddenly appear right in front of us when we needed her. The day was so perfect and if there were any hiccups or mishaps, we didn’t notice a thing. That’s why you hire a wedding planner! There are no words to explain how incredible it was to have Holly leading us the entire way. She is an absolute gem and organized the most perfect day we could have ever imagined. It was a dream come true.”
