Lady Wives celebrate their Mexi-Jewish Wedding at Ruby Street.
Happy 1 Year Anniversary to Abbey & Martha. Check out their Mexi-Jewish Wedding at Ruby Street on H & H Weddings today!
Abbey and Martha were the winners of the LGBTQ+ Wedding contest we offered in 2018 for one lucky couple to win gratis wedding planning services. After receiving dozens of wonderful applications with stories of amazing and deserving LGBTQ+ couples in the LA area, Abbey and Martha’s story stood out to us as the best.

Their love story was full of journies, avid travels, career-driven experiences, spin classes, concerts, long dates, inside jokes, and a joint appreciation of Salt-N-Pepa. These Lady Wives were the ultimate winners and so became this incredible Mexi-Jewish Wedding!
Abbey and Martha signed their ketubah with their closest friends and parents around them.
The lady wives said their vows at Ruby Street in Highland Park under a custom, ribbon chuppah created by Shindig Chic. This winter celebration was warm with color, love, and holiday festivities!
Their Mexi-Jewish Wedding ceremony brought together both Jewish and Catholic elements, including Martha’s family rosary and Abbey’s Jewish heritage of the breaking of the glass(es).
You don’t get much better than two beautiful smiling brides especially with makeup and hair by Betsy diFrancesca!
To incorporate Martha’s heritage, the ladies added a Mariachi Band, Mexico En America, to their ceremony and cocktail hour.
Custom napkins from For Your Party were a huge hit at cocktail hour!
What does any good Mexi-Jewish Wedding need? DUH! There were even mini latkes on the menu. A signature dish from Border Grill owner and celebrity Chef, Susan Feniger.
Guests enjoyed colorful libations from Cali Craft Cocktails.

Ruby Street has been many things over the years…
Suffragette house. Civil rights meeting place. Progressive church.
This beautiful plot of land in a historically protected artists’ neighborhood of LA has always seemed to bring people together.
As an avid souvenir spoons collector, Martha wasn’t too incorporate her hobby with these customized souvenir spoon favors designed by Raven and Crow. The spoons depicting the venue, Ruby Street, on the top and the bride’s initials, A&M, on the bottom along with the date.
Textured florals and tropicals along with pink acrylic table numbers from Shindig Chic adorned each farm table.
La Pinata Party Rentals rounded out the colorful and eclectic family-style tables with multi-colored napkins and water goblets.
Bring on the chips & guac!
Porto’s Bakery replicated their Minted wedding invitation in the design of the cake.
Their 3D printed cake topper was a mini replica of the two brides from their heads to their toes!
Yachty By Nature brought down the house with some smooth yacht rock!
Don’t forget to grab a hat, Captain!
“I bless the rains down in Afffffrica” – Sang EVERYONE on the dance floor!
With the wedding falling on the first night of Hannukah, a menorah, gelt, dreidels, and Barbra Streisand candle were a holiday must!
You can’t forget a Christmas ornament or two to round out the holiday traditions and celebration!
Martha wore a custom jumpsuit by Daniela Kurrle while Abbey wore a vintage-inspired tea-length gown from Dolly Couture.
