An Evening of Mystique with Hayley Paige at JLM Boutique

For years, I have admired Hayley Paige’s style and designs. Her out-of-the-box creativity is a breath of fresh air. Hayley Paige is youthful, spirited and plays with hues as no other bridal designer can! She is a magical, fashion unicorn and designing this event for her was colorful dream come true for Anything But Gray Events! Thank you to California Wedding Day Magazine for asking me to be apart of this mystical celebration.

As the head designer for Hayley Paige, Blush by Hayley Paige, Hayley Paige Occasions, Hayley Paige Red Carpet, and La Petite Hayley Paige at JLM Couture, she has received global recognition for her collections. Her red carpet pieces have been worn by musicians, influencers and trendsetters such as Carrie Underwood, Chrissy Teigen, Olivia Wilde, Aly Raisman, Kristen Taekman, Jamie Lynn Sigler, Hilary Rhoda, and Kelsea Ballerini, among others.

Hayley Paige’s dresses can be seen in elite bridal publications such as Brides, The Knot and Martha Stewart Weddings, as well as television programs like The Today Show, Good Morning America, E! News and Say Yes to the Dress. Hayley’s personalized approach to social media has built a community of brides on Instagram at more than 643K followers.

California Wedding Day

California Wedding Day Magazine interviewed Hayley Paige prior to the event to ask her what inspired her newest bridal collection, “The Oracle Collection”. Inspired by empowerment, Paige’s latest collection is a daring and chic sparkle fest filled with dreamy confections featuring floral beaded straps, cascading ball gowns, and beautiful beading. We’re especially head-over-heels for Archie, a beaded tulle A-line gown featuring a draped one-shoulder bodice with a draped accent on the back. And the “Rad” gown is a dream with its heart-on-heart embroidered tulle ball gown, scalloped sweetheart neckline and open butterfly back.

Tucked away in the heart of Beverly Hills, JLM Couture Flagship Salon in Los Angeles was the intimate backdrop to this sparkling soiree, “An Evening of Mystique” to celebrate Hayley Paige’s 2019 Spring Bridal Collection.

The Event Design:

The biggest challenging of designing this event was the size of the space itself. I am used to designing events for 200+ guests in large venues with room to groove. JLM a petite boutique with the minimal square footage. Creativity was key to elongate the room and make it feel like a larger space.

In lieu of a traditional step and repeat, I opted for an installation piece comprised of a silver-leaf, full moon backdrop from Paper Moon Shoppe. These handmade, hand-painted backdrops built by a husband and wife team, added the celestial whimsy I was craving.

A floral installation by Shindig Chic on a gold, halo arch from Papillon Rentals created a 3D effect as guests posted in front of the scene. Etched acrylic signage by Cecile’s Paper Co. branded this Hayley Paige and JLM Boutique hosted celebration.

It is safe to say that I felt, “Over the moon” all night! ALL the pun intended!

The Eats & Drinks:

What is a mystic event without a bit of magic? The Natural Mixologist added (all natural) pops of color and smoke to their creative bar menu with to stylish, signature drinks. Papillon Rentals provided the bar, bar backs, and glassware.

(Left), a vodka-based cocktail, changed from blue to fuschia adorned (science!) with pearls that created a luminescent glittery appearance.

(Right), a tequila-based cocktail, was served with dry ice from a teapot and clipped with a rose petal for scent.

Colette’s Catering treated guests to an appetizer installation piece draped in White Fish Brandade Jars and Sea Salt Grissini with Artichoke fondue.

Annalisa Rodriguez: Spiritual Goddess & Tarot Card Reader gave guest insights into their futures.

The Dresses:

The Papermoon Shoppe moon scaled a whopping, 8ft tall with a 12ft fabric backdrop. Adorned with a balloon installation from Balloonzilla and metallic, paper gemstones by The Blue Dahlia it theatrical backdrop effect at the start of the runway.

My Inspiration:

Hayley Paige’s tarot card images gave me a huge insight into the style direction I wanted to head with this events. Whimsical, Celestial, Transformative, Colorful, Female Empowerment, Mystical and Enchanted were all words I wanted to convey in the design and feel of the event.

From there, the linen colors from Luxe Linen began to bring the event to life.

I wanted the BEST vendor team who could make my design and sketches come to life. Events are not created by one person, they take a small village. Thank you to this amazingly talented vendor team for putting up with hundreds of emails and jumping on the color train with me to take a really fun ride!
